How To Deal With A Sunburn

We all have friends who mark their real start of summer with their first sunburn. While we all know sunburns are something that you want to avoid at all costs, sometimes life gets in the way! If you're nursing some red unhappy skin we have some recommendations to help soothe and heal.

1) Eminence's Rosehip & Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator

This cooling body gel uses extracts from Rosemary & Rosehip to help soothe redness due to dryness and protects from environmental triggers. It has vitamin C rich Rosehip to fight the signs of ageing while Lemongrass is slightly astringent and will minimize the appearance of pores.

2) Honey

We love honey for burns, while it can be sticky and annoying, it can very effective for alleviating that heat stuck in the skin feeling, is healing and won't make you break out since it's also naturally antibacterial. Just apply to the skin and rinse off when you can't stand being sticky anymore. It will leave a slight residue, typically cream mixes into it and undoes the sticky feeling!

3) Our "Oh God I'm Red" After Sun Treatment

This treatment covers face, top of shoulders, upper back and chest. We help alleviate the heat from the burn, calm down reddness, pump your skin full of free-radical fighting antioxidants and it's a very massage-y treatment. We can only do this on burns that aren't blistering and you need to be comfortable lying down

4) Epic Blend's Citrus Mint Body Wash and Lotion

Epic Blend's products are SLS, mineral oil and petrolatum free. The citrus mint smells amazing, but also is lightly cooling. The lotion contains healing oils, including Vitamin E oil, aloe, chamomile extract, green tea extract and calendula. The citrus essential oils will balance the minty smell so you won't remind people of breath mints while secretly lotion-ing at work. Remember to follow up with sunscreen as some essential oils can make you more photosensitive

5) Green Beaver All Zinc SPF 40 Sunscreen

Lots of people forget that you still need to wear sun protection when you have a burn! It's even more critical to prevent further damage. We like upping our zinc game when rehabbing from a burn because zinc is healing and helps prevent some heat from the sun from getting into your skin due to it's UV scattering abilities. The base of the sunscreen includes sunflower oil, Karanja seed oil, jojoba esters, super hydrating squalene and raspberry seed oil! Meaning that each application will also help delivery nourishment to your parched skin.

6) Zinc Based Diaper Rash Cream

I know, seems silly, but as noted above, zinc helps heal skin, you can find diaper rash cream pretty much everywhere (we carry it too) and it is made for babies!
